Tulsa Website Design | What Google Teaches Us

by | Jan 11, 2021 | Website Design | SEO

Today we want to look at what Google teaches us about Tulsa based website design. Google is the primary leading search engine used by consumers today. That means that over 90% of all traffic on the web happens with one of Google’s algorithms. We will bore you with the details of Penguin or Hummingbird or any other of the actual algorithms used by Google to rank website content. Instead today we want to talk about design aspects as they relate to Google. Any information that you find in this post that might be confusing or if you’d like to know more information about anything don’t hesitate to call us at 918-218-2228 or at info@centupli.com. When you do, ask about our free 30 minute meeting and website design prototype.

Header Structure

The first thing that I want to look at is header usage in Tulsa website design. Google operates by doing something called crawling. This is where they look throughout all the content on your website. Google crawls the website to determine what the website is about, how useful the information is and if anybody wants to know about it. Logically, you would want your website to have a high ranking with Google. In fact, this is one of the primary ways to generate new leads. It is important that you create content with a strong structure. Google looks at headers to determine how structured or unstructured your content is. This also allows Google to infer how easy your content would be to read by your readers. You want only include one H1 tag per page. Headers need to have a clear definition of what your content underneath is about.

Keywords

As we talked about in our previous post here, keywords are an extremely important part of your website. Without a keyword, how is Google supposed to know what your content is not? Keywords are what users might search inside of the Google search bar. The best way to come up with your keyword is to think about what you would search. If you’re an auto body shop what would you search if you are looking to replace your bumper. Maybe something to the effect of “bumper replacements in Tulsa”. Whatever your field of businesses, think about how customers will try to find you and target your content to that. You have to include keywords in your content for your customers to be able to find you.

Readability Score in Tulsa Website Design

Finally, this goes right alongside with the header keywords we’ve already discussed in this article. The readability score is something that Fletcher came up with to track how hard content is to read. Depending upon how long your sentences are, there are words that you use in the language, you may get a high or low readability score. The readability score goes from 0 to 100 where 100 is extremely easy to read and zero is very difficult.

Google is looking for a readability score that the average person can understand. That means you want your readability score to be between 70 and hundred. That means that on average a student of about 15 years old or under can understand your content. Albert Einstein said that if you can explain it simply you don’t understand it well enough. That is what Google believes to be true as well. They want your content to look and feel easy so that people can understand it quickly. Think about your own experience in Google. If you can’t skim the high points of the content and grasp of the basic understanding of the concept in 5 to 10 minutes, you move on.
