Colors in your Tulsa website design
Today I want to just look at three of the colors businesses can use to market their brands. There is a psychology to color usage. Certain colors make you feel a certain way just like certain types of songs make you feel a certain way. If you listen to a really sad song you seem to feel sad. We understand that when it comes to music, but sometimes it’s overlooked how colors affect our mood. Think about when you wake up in the morning. If it’s dark and dreary outside and every color muted, you might feel more depressed. Are the items outside different? No, but my perception of them is. Today I want to look at just three of these colors: red, orange and yellow. In other posts, we’ll check out the others.
Red the color of strength and excitement
red is the color that has been used to represent strength, excitement, love and energy for years. There’s a reason why hearts are colored red and not blue. There’s a reason McDonald’s uses red and yellow and not blue and green. It all comes down to marketing. Red conveys hunger and excitement. You want to choose this color if you want people to feel and energy about your company. The best way to understand these colors is the think about the other brands that use them. You have red bull or red hot tamales. It’s all about fire and energy. If you are trying to open a spa, you would want to make red your primary color because it doesn’t fit the atmosphere you want to build.
Orange the color of confidence and success
Centupli is a Tulsa based website design company. As such, many of our customers are familiar with Oklahoma State University. Oklahoma State University is a primary example of the use of orange. These orders represent sociability, bravery and success. They want their students to be confident about where they’re going in life. They chose orange for a specific reason. That’s what I’m trying to get out with this post. Understand that people choose colors when branding their companies for reasons. The founder Oklahoma State University did just say well I like the color orange so best the color I’ll pick. Instead they chose it based on the psychology of the color.
Yellow the color of creativity, warmth and cheer
We go back to the example of McDonald’s. Think about Ronald McDonald as the clown. His whole persona was supposed to be happiness and excitement. That’s why they chose the colors red and yellow. Yellow conveys feelings of warmth and happiness. Think about the sun or smiling faces. They almost always are represented by a yellow face. Brands who need to be cheerful or inspire warmth and creativity use the color yellow. Many children’s toys or movies use the color yellow. Think about the playground sets. Many of them use the color yellow to be inviting.
Choose the right color for your Tulsa based website design
Regardless of who you are or what your business does, you need to think about the colors you’re using to represent your company. Your branding is important. I go back to the spa example. You want to build an environment of relaxation. You would never dream of playing hard-core death metal in your spa and yet we do the same thing with colors everyday.
